My search for a reasonably priced set of springs to go along with the Stagg struts that I purchased turn up the Vogtland brand of springs.
I was looking for something that would improve handling, maintain comfort but wouldn't break my pocket. Vogtland is a German based company that makes parts for VW and have been around for a while.
Based on appearances alone the springs look well constructed and designed. They are progressive springs and so should maintain some level of comfort as opposed to full racing springs.
I'm unsure of the spring rate but because they are progressive springs they have two rates one rate provides similar characteristics to OEM standards and the other that improves handling characteristics under more aggressive driving,
They should also give the car a drop of about an inch or two. Stay tuned for the install and review.
So I was able to find some time over the weekend to finally install my strut brace, The install is pretty simple and took about 15 minutes to do.
All that was require is to remove two nuts on either side of the strut tower that hold the strut in place, place the strut brace over the bolts and reinstall the nuts and that's it your done.
The only minor issue I found with the brace is that it slightly rests on the intake when it is fully tightened down.
Check out the pictures below to see how it turned out.
I am a firm believer in suspension braces as I have experienced first hand the difference having and not having braces on your car makes. With that in mind I ordered the first of a few braces I plan to add to the Tercel.
The strut brace I got was actually for the Paseo as seen in the pictures below but they will fit the Tercel and Starlet as well.
I plan to get :
This should be OK enough for my plans for the car and Im looking at three major brands Whitline Racing, ultra Racing and Drag and Drift.
I plan to do an installation video to outline and issues I may come across during the installation.
I have added a link here if you want to purchase one for your project.
